Her journey as a musician
Eva Eik is a singer-songwriter based in Norway. She improvises most of her songs on the piano or by using loops in Logic. Her voice is often described as warm and ethereal, with a viking touch. Her music has been described as Nordic Pop because of her folky note choices, chords and rhythms. Her music is influenced by nature, tribal music, pop and jazz artists and the world around her. She has been writing songs for most of her life and loves sharing her point of view and connecting with people through her music. She has played various venues in the UK such as Lending Room in Leeds, Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds, LS6 in Leeds, as well as venues in Manchester and York. She released her first single called “River” in 2019 and has since been collaborating with other artists such as Gesualdi, FearFox and Faint Lewis. At the moment she is writing songs and getting ready to start recording her next release.
Eva Eik has a background in singing classical music, jazz
improvisation and pop songs. Her mother says she was singing
before she could speak. Eva Eik’s first memory of songwriting
was walking in the forest with her parents and making up a
song about a girl sitting on a rock. Her grandmother taught
her how to sing in Romanian and French when she was a child,
and she attended church choir, piano classes, guitar classes,
and finally when she was 13 she started learning to sing with
a classical vocal teacher. She went on to focusing on music
during high school, where she was introduced to jazz singing
and learned her first jazz standard “My Funny Valentine”. She
and her friends would jam The Script’s “The Man Who Can’t Be
Moved” and Regina Spector’s “Rejazz”. In one of her first
exams in school she was supposed to sing a classical arie, but
to her vocal teacher’s surprise, Eva Eik showed up to her exam
with a guitarist and the song “Halo” by Beyoncé. Eva Eik has
always had a mind of her own. She was also performing songs by
Amy Wiehouse and Norah Jones for the Romanian Culture

When Eva Eik was 13 she tried to write a pop song on guitar,
but she disliked it so much she did not try to write a song
again util she discovered Garageband on her MacBook when she
was 19. Since then she has been writing songs constantly,
using both loops and instruments such as guitar and piano.
Leeds in the UK has been a major part of Eva Eik’s life. This
is where she studied Pop, Jazz and Songwriting and played and
performed her own songs with people for the very first time.
She has gigged a fair bit in Leeds, doing multiple shows in
Leeds, York and Manchester. She lived in Leeds from 2015-2020,
and has now moved back to Norway to work on her music and
healing. She is planning on doing online events which combine
her music and healing, so stay tuned for that!
Eva Eik writes music to express herself, to help others feel
